The Special Clinical Chemistry section works with the latest technology in all key areas. This department's competence extends, on one hand, from narcotic and confirmation analytics to assays for detecting alcohol abuse and level determination of anticonvulsants, psychotropic drugs and immunosuppressants with highly sensitive and specific tandem mass spectrometers. On the other, heavy metals and trace elements are usually detected using atomic spectroscopy in relation to occupational- and environmental-medical issues.

A key topic in our laboratory is vitamin undersupply which we tackle diagnostically with corresponding level determinations and special tests for characterising antioxidant- or oxidant statuses.
